Video Chat Guidelines

Some guidelines for being impressive while on calls:

  • If you’re typing, please stay on mute. Typing comes out pretty loud and adds a level of background noise that you can’t hear.

  • Please don’t eat when you’re on a call, unless we’re super close with the client. Please don’t eat when there is new business on the line, or we are trying to impress people that will make decisions about whether or not we will be given new business.

  • Do not talk over clients. Set up the video such that you can see every face (or as many faces as possible and pay attention to when they want to speak and let them speak.

  • Please pay attention when you’re on the call. And look attentive. It’s obvious when you’re not.

  • On client or new business calls try to dress appropriately (e.g. no tank-tops) and keep your background clean and organized.

  • If you have to screen share, don’t share your entire screen, but share a particular window (e.g. just the power point or just the browser). Simultaneously, if you share your browser, you might want to hide the favorites bar.
